Spring has Sprung

I do believe Spring has sprung

I got a really good spring cleaning inside done today, my house smells so clean, I am all caught up on my laundry, I even worked @ my real job today.

I am ready for a really crazy week coming up. This is where my time management skills are going to kick in. Thanks to Niagara College I was able to put them to a test, & I passed.

Spring-Internship

I am so looking forward to doing my internship. I can develop a routine of working Mon.- Fri., normal hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. I will be able to take my lunch @ 1:00 p.m. & have made plans with my good friend who works a cross the street from my internship to walk on beautiful Merritt Island everyday

What a day the sun is shinning, I can’t wait for summer.

It has been a great time getting to know my fellow classmates, I wish everyone the best of luck in their future endeavors. The teachers in this program have taught me so much I will never forget them

Public memorial service planned for Jeff Healey

TORONTO – Plans are underway to organize a public memorial for late Canadian guitarist Jeff Healey.

Healey’s widow, Cristie, says details have yet to be finalized and that she appreciates the condolences and kind thoughts that have been sent her way. The renowned guitarist and bandleader died Sunday at age 41 following a battle with cancer.

Cristie Healey says a private funeral service will be held but that details are not being released.

She praised the guitar hero as “a loving husband and a committed family man.”

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Daisy’s Eye Cancer Fund, an international children’s charity.

“We would like to thank our family, friends and Jeff’s fans for their condolences and kind thoughts at this most difficult time,” Healey said Tuesday in a release.

“Jeff’s music touched many people on many different levels. More importantly, in his personal life, Jeff was a loving husband and a committed family man, generous and kind, extremely down to earth, and a loyal friend. Jeff had a determination that he brought to all aspects of his life, and this was an inspiration to all that knew him. Now we need to say our goodbyes in private; however, we respect the public need to participate in celebrating Jeff’s life and music and we are planning a public memorial, with details to follow.”

Healey was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, retinoblastoma, as a child, resulting in his loss of sight and predisposing him to other cancers later in life

I had the honor to meet Jeff Healy, I will never forget the night. I was the Special Events assistant for TOWN that year. The guys in his band left him standing alone @ the back of the stage during The Food Festival. So of coarse me being me, I asked if I could help him back to his van. He took me up on my offer, as we were walking to his van. He asked me how many people were there that night. I told him about 15,000, & he said and we are on an island, I said yes we are on an man made island between a canal and a river. He said I hope it doesn’t sink:)

Public Speaking

Today I went to a local high school to talk about the Rose Parade and how to design a float. I was also able to mention some information about the whole Rose Festival.

It has been a long time since I have been in a high school, things have really changed. For the most part I was well recieved.

Let me tell you: I am really glad that I was able to use some of the techniques that I learnt in class! It was great practice for the workshop that I am hosting @ city hall today

Road Trip

I would have to say this is a new version of a diary with modern technology.

It was a busy week for me as usual, I also have another crazy week coming up. I am trying to keep up, and I am determined too!

All sorts of people keep saying to me “I don’t know how you do it.” “I know I could not do it.” It’s really hard for me to accept what they are saying, because I “just do it.” Go to school(full time), work, clean my house, do the wash, cook, do the groceries, be a wife, daughter, sister, step-mom, perfect aunt, etc. Yep, I organize a major parade in town and sit on a couple of boards.

That’s enough info for you to understand why I “just do it.”

A week in the life of me!

Well I guess the title says it all. It has been a crazy week for me, I have a lot on the go. That’s suppose to be good for you right?

They say it keeps you out of trouble. It would be nice if I could start getting paid for all the hard work I do.

OK, enought complaining. Life will get back to normal, or sort of normal(what is normal anyways?) June 16, 2008.
